          The United States won the Revolutionary war against its mother country, the United Kingdom on September 3, 1783. After 7 years of an on-going war after the declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. The Continental Army was led by General George Washington who later became the first President of America. Many other great figures during the Revolutionary war were John Adams (2nd President) who went to France and successfully negotiated a deal for a naval assistant from France. America and France also have similar struggles with its monarchy system. (France had their own revolution later in 1789)


There were many other delegates from the 13 colonies (became states) who took parts during America's independence movements. Thomas Jefferson who was head of the committee that drafted America's declaration of independence also made 3rd President of the United States and bought the land west of the Mississippi river, gained America mass lands to expand westward. The westward expansion was a continuous afford by all American presidents until the annexation of Hawaii that made 50th state, and completed the journey to the west; from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean.

If you are interested in British and American Studies, it is probably a good idea to take a look at the names and achievements of American presidents that might give you more ideas about the American values that has been the driven force for America since it became an independent nation.
